Tasting Notes

A medium-bodied wine with spicy white pepper and mocha aromas, layered with vibrant red berry fruit flavors. Concentrated with savory tannins with a long spicy finish.

Winemakers’ Notes

Grapes were cold soaked for one day prior to fermentation at temperatures controlled between 22 and 26oC, with a total of 14 days skin contact. Pump-overs were effected twice daily. 100% of the wine was matured in 300L French oak barrels for 12 months, mostly second and third fill.

Strandveld Vineyards is the home of the southernmost plantings of vines on the African continent. Under the guidance of winemaker Conrad Vlok, Strandveld has become a benchmark producer of Sauvignon Blanc and red Rhone varietals from the Cape’s cool climate zone.
