Description

Tasting Notes

Fragrant, with piquant aromas of capsicum, grapefruit and fresh pineapple. Rich and expansive, with a generous texture and steely backbone. Subtle capsicum, nettle and citrus blossom notes are presented on the nose. The palate reflects the characters initially perceived on the nose with the mid-palate showing leesy notes followed by sustained lime pith characters on the finish.

Winemakers’ Notes

Selected fruit from cool-climate areas. No bells and whistles, value for money, straight forward, clean-cut, tank-fermented. Typical Eksteen style with soft, well-integrated acidity.

Bartho Eksteen has led a distinguished career with a track record of bringing several prominent producers to the forefront of the South African wine scene. In 2014 Bartho and his wife Suné acquired the current premises which they have transformed into a model boutique winery and restaurant.

Bartho was South Africa’s Winemaker of the Year in 2010.

Food Suggestions

The wine is an ideal partner to shellfish, seafood dishes, salads and chicken dishes.
