Vintage

The 2019 growing season was a roller coaster that kept us on our toes, but resulted in beautiful wines.  Spring precipitation persisted through bloom and berry set, but the weather had little impact on our yields.  As summer progressed, our typical heat spikes failed to appear, allowing berry flavors to develop slowly, and leading to one of our longest harvests on record.  We picked at optimal ripeness and are thrilled with our young wines.

 

Winemaking

We pick the Sangiovese for our Rosato about two weeks before we pick from the same vineyard block for our red wine, capturing brighter fruit flavors and a lively character. We gently destemmed and crushed the berries before sending to the press, where a long, gentle pressing cycle extracted beautiful juice. We fermented the wine slowly at cool temperatures to maintain the brilliant aromatics.

 

Tasting Notes

This beautifully hued wine offers compelling aromas of raspberry, strawberry, and rose petal, along with exotic notes of quince, guava, and lychee, with a hint of citrus.  This wine is ebulliently fruity and exciting.

 

Pairings

This wine will pair nicely with a salad of strawberry and feta cheese or your favorite goat cheese.
