Description

Tasting Notes

Aromatics of pineapple, vanilla and hints of spice fill the glass. Succulent flavors of tropical fruits, citrus and honey coat the palate with some richness balanced with a refreshing crisp style.

Winemakers’ Notes

Vines planted in deep loamy stony soils. On a south-east facing slope with ample sunlight without leaving the grapes in direct sunlight. Grapes were hand sorted and destemmed, then went through two hours of pressing and skin contact. The grapes were clarified and enzymes were added. Then, they were fermented with yeast at 15-16oC. After, the wine went through wooded fermentation for six months with weekly stirring and non-wooded maturation on the lees.

In 2002, Newald Marais gave up the reigns as Cellarmaster at South Africa’s iconic Nederburg Estate and set out to carve a new path. In 2009 Newald acquired the stunningly beautiful piece of earth that is Kranskop and now makes wine in his own inimitable style.

Food Suggestions

The wine will pair well with rich seafood dishes, cream based pasta dishes and chicken dishes.
