Tasting Notes

Full bodied wine with dark berry flavours and touches of cedar and spice. Subtle and soft tannins with lovely oak flavours.

Winemakers’ Notes

Grapes were harvested at 25oB, destemmed and transferred to open fermentation tanks. After the addition of selected yeasts, the juice, together with the skins, were allowed to ferment at controlled temperatures of 25- 28oC. Regular punch downs allowed for optimum color and tannin extraction.

The de Villiers family have been making wine in South Africa since 1690. They originally owned land in the Franschoek area and acquired Landskroon in 1874. A longtime pioneer in viticulture and winemaking practices in the Paarl area. Landskroon is regarded by many as one of the best value estate producers in the country. The current cellarmaster, Paul de Villiers V, won the Diners Club South African Winemaker of the Year award in 2000.

Food Suggestions

The wine is an ideal partner to roasts, grilled meats and cheese based dishes.
