Description

Tasting Notes

The wine is full-bodied with delicious rich flavours of dark berries and piquant pepper. Supported by tones of spicy oak gained from aging in new oak barriques.

Winemakers’ Notes

Grapes were handpicked at 24oB from selected clones of Cabernet Sauvignon vineyards. After destalking and the addition of selected yeasts, the juice, together with the skins were allowed to ferment in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures between 25 and 27oC. Punch down method was used for colour and tannin extraction.

The de Villiers family have been making wine in South Africa since 1690. They originally owned land in the Franschoek area and acquired Landskroon in 1874. A longtime pioneer in viticulture and winemaking practices in the Paarl area. Landskroon is regarded by many as one of the best value estate producers in the country. The current cellarmaster, Paul de Villiers V, won the Diners Club South African Winemaker of the Year award in 2000.
