Description

Tasting Notes

Intensely rich and varietal with enormous com- plexity and precise balance. Spice and currants with oak hints in the nose. Bright with a unique acidity and full bodied in the mouth. Pomegranate, currants, and berries provides a pure rich fruit center with notes of pepper framed by proper barrel aging. It finishes long, complex and satisfying.

James Suckling in December ’16 wrote of a previous vintage: “A very fine wine with pretty berry, currant and chocolate character. . . fine tannins and a polished finish.” Rated 93 points.

Winemakers’ Notes

Each lot was punched cap fermented by hand and barrel aged for 40 months in selected French oak barrels (50% new).

Special Note

A dynamic, more hedonistic Cabernet Sauvignon. This wine is made from the mysterious Secret Clone from its original Pope Valley vineyard. A very rare and highly appreciated clone since its debut in its first vintage of 2000. This is only the fourth vintage of this unique wine under PureCru Winery and its original winemaker Mitch Cosentino (who has made and bottled 12 total vintages to date under different wineries). In the 2002 Auction Napa Valley this wine raised over $156,000 in two lots.
